Dutch missing woman (65) found dead on Samos
A 65-year-old Dutch woman who had been missing on the Greek island of Samos since last Thursday was found dead on Wednesday morning.
Brigitte van Gennip, a 65-year-old woman from Amsterdam, had started a walk near the Tunnel of Eupalinos, but was not seen after that. An intensive search for her was carried out, including with drones and dogs.
She was eventually found after presumably taking a wrong path at a misleading junction. It is still unclear exactly how she died, but she may have slipped, got lost, or been struck by dehydration.
In recent months, a striking number of tourists in Greece have died or gone missing in similar circumstances.
