American woman mixes up her eye drops with glue... She realizes too late!
A bad start to the year for K'netha Faggart, a mother living in Concord in the US state of North Carolina, who thought she'd lost her left eye.
At the end of December, K'netha Faggart made a huge mistake: she mistook her eye drops for nail glue. According to US media reports, the mother-of-one poured a few drops of what she thought was her eye product into her left eye before feeling a sharp burn and ending up with a stuck eyelid. She told Queen City News:
“It burned like hell (...) When I went into the bathroom to turn on the water and tried to put water in my eye, my finger was stuck to my eye. That's when I realized it was glue.”
A “flayed” eyeball
In pain, K'netha immediately went to the emergency room, accompanied by her daughter Ria, after realizing her mistake. As reported by Demotivateur, the doctors on the scene were unfortunately unable to do anything and found that the patient's eyeball was “skinned”. “My eyelid was stuck to my eyeball as if it was closed. They tried several times and couldn't get it to open, move or anything,” continues the American mother.
An exhausting and painful situation
To protect her eye, K'netha had to wear a bandage for a month. Her carelessness could cost her dearly, as she risks living with partial sight loss. The patient also explained that she was terribly afraid of going blind.
Last weekend, K'netha posted a video on TikTok from her hospital bed. In it, she gives details of her condition: “Fluid is leaking from both my eyes. They think I have an infection. And this eye still won't open, so I'm not sure what they're going to do (...) It's exhausting and very painful.”
