Last Saturday, an 18-year-old woman had to be rushed to hospital at Albany Medical Center (New York). She had been violently hit by a motorcyclist in the Pine Hills area, not far from the University of Albany campus. 

The driver did not stop to help her. Alexa Kropf is currently in an induced coma. Her father praises the responsiveness of her classmates, who called 911 immediately after the impact. He confides that thanks to them, his daughter has a chance of surviving. ‘No family should have to go through this,’ he adds. 

Today, a Go Fund Me was launched to raise funds and help the family with Alexa's surgical costs. She will have to undergo several operations and, if all goes according to plan, continue a long period of convalescence. 

The motorcyclist has not yet been identified. The Chief of Police and the Mayor of Albany have given assurances that all available resources are being deployed to find the person responsible.
