Very bad news for Tupperware and its plastic containers
Tupperware has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the American bankruptcy law. This means that it has declared bankruptcy. The company hopes to find a buyer, despite its colossal debts.
It's an icon in all of our kitchens that could soon disappear. The famous Tupperware brand of plastic boxes and utensils is in great difficulty. Laurie Ann Goldman, the CEO of the American company, has launched bankruptcy proceedings under the cover of "Chapter 11". In order to apply for this, it must face debts of 700 million dollars. This procedure could allow Tupperware to continue its activities while looking for a buyer. Created in 1946 by Earl Tupper, the company has made commercial history with its network of home salespeople, with the famous Tupperware meetings initiated in 1950 by Brownie Wise. It has 12 factories, including 3 in Europe.
