UK: Woman missing for 52 years found alive and well

A woman who vanished 52 years ago has been found alive and in good health after police shared a grainy black-and-white photograph of her, bringing one of the UK’s oldest missing person cases to a close.

Sheila Fox, now 68, disappeared in 1972 from Coventry when she was just 16 years old. At the time, local authorities reported that she lived with her parents and might have been in a relationship with a man.

Late last week, West Midlands Police issued a renewed appeal to find Sheila Fox by sharing an old photograph of her on their website and social media platforms.

Within hours, tips poured in, leading police to discover earlier this week that Sheila had been living abroad and is currently in a relationship.

A police spokesperson said: "We are delighted to announce the conclusion of one of West Midlands police’s longest-running missing person investigations."

"A single photo of Sheila from around the time of her disappearance was found by officers investigating and published on our website and social media. Within hours of the appeal, members of the public got in touch with information which led the team to her."
