Making your bed in the morning: not a good idea!
Many people make their bed every morning, as soon as they get out of bed: make that bed as quickly as possible.
Your bedroom immediately looks neat and ‘a tidy house is a tidy mind’. We learned this from our parents when we were little.
But did you know that it's better for your health not to make the bed immediately and to let it ‘breathe’ for a while?
Dust mites
While sleeping, we sweat and lose countless skin particles; this is perfectly normal and this is how our skin continuously renews itself. But these skin particles are like magnets for dust mites. Dust mites are about half a millimetre in size and feed on skin flakes from humans and animals; they thrive best in a warm and moist bed.
Not done but undone
Making your bed in the morning (closing it up) is therefore very interesting for dust mites. They can nestle in this comfortable, warm and moist nest and reproduce in peace. But you don’t want that!
So don't make your bed in the morning, leave it open for a while, open a window and let everything air out.
