Planes to fly from Brussels with cooking oil

Parcel carrier DHL is going to test an alternative fuel from Brussels Airport. This kerosene substitute will be made up of cooking oil.

There’s nothing like the land of fries to use cooking oil as aviation fuel. German company DHL is going to test a SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) from Brussels Airport. SAF is a sustainable fuel that can replace kerosene, while reducing CO2 emissions. The company plans to swap a third of traditional kerosene for this more environmentally friendly replacement. It's made up of animal fat extracts and cooking oil. DHL will use 25,000 tonnes of SAF for one year at Brussels Airport. By 2030, DHL aims to replace 30% of its kerosene worldwide with alternative aviation fuel.
