Doctors lose “part of his skull” during operation

This story takes place in the United States, in the Emory Midtown Hospital in Atlanta. In September 2022, Fernando Cluster had to undergo a delicate procedure after suffering a brain haemorrhage. The problem is, the doctors in charge of the operation 'lost' part of his skull.

Mr. Cluster has just filed a complaint against the Atlanta hospital. While the aim of the intervention was to reduce the pressure exerted on the patient's brain by removing, extracting and then replacing a piece of about ten centimeters of the skull, the piece of skull was lost.

It is shocking that a healthcare provider like Emory loses a part of the skull of one of its patients and then refuses to take responsibility for it…” the patient confided, comments relayed by The Mirror.

In order to replace the lost bone, Fernando Cluster had a synthetic implant installed. In total, it cost him $146,800. Having suffered a secondary infection, the patient is now demanding “financial compensation for his physical as well mental state” reports La Dépêche. In fact, the man claims that he was unable to return to work because of “permanent injuries”.

For its part, the hospital does not wish to comment on ongoing litigation and ensures that it provides high quality care to its patients.
