Tribe addicted to X-rated videos...all they needed was access to the internet

Internet is progress they say, but it is also a gateway towards all kinds of abuses. 9 months after being connected to the Internet, a tribe fell into one of the web's many traps: addiction.

The Marubo Amazonian tribe is located in a remote and isolated area of Brazil, along the Ituí River. In September 2023, its members were finally able to access the Internet, thanks Starlink (whose founder is none other than Elon Musk). The primary objective? To facilitate contact with emergency services, especially in the event of a life-threatening situation, and to improve living conditions. The problem? As is often the case, behind advantages lie disadvantages, especially when it comes to uninformed users.

And while, according to the New York Times and the testimony of one of the tribe's chiefs, lives have been saved and connections between families (several kilometers apart) have been made possible, a complication will always come to spoil the party.

Addiction to adult content

"A number of chiefs are expressing their concern after noticing that several of their members were looking at a lot of X-rated content. The situation is such that some have even become completely addicted," reports Demotivateur. The chiefs fear that this access to adult sites will corrupt the youth. "Some locals have dissapointantly even already noted an increase in "aggressive sexual behavior" among young men in the tribe."
