A few years ago, a small town in Normandy (France) was the scene of a real tragedy. A 44-year-old woman tragically ran over her husband as she came to help him. 

It was pitch dark in Vire, a small town in Normandy, when a 54-year-old driver, accompanied by his 16-year-old daughter, missed a bend and lost control of his van. After a series of rollovers, the vehicle came to a halt at the side of the road. Miraculously, the two passengers escaped unhurt. 

But... when the fifty-year-old called his wife to come to the rescue, she did the irreparable. On reaching the scene of the tragedy, she lost control of her car on the same bend, crushing her husband in the process. The man died instantly. The teenager managed to free herself at the last minute. 

‘Both women were then taken to Vire hospital for treatment. And presumably given psychological support, given the drama that had just unfolded", reports the DH.
