A priest armed with a pistol, a knife and a box cutter arrested in the Vatican
The priest, a Czech national, was attending the Angelus prayer in St Peter's Square, but claimed he was carrying his weapon in self-defence.
Security staff were alerted to a most bizarre situation. The objects being carried alerted them to a dangerous situation.
Suddenly, the sensors detected an anomaly. The priest.
was carrying... an air pistol, two knives, a box cutter and a screwdriver!
He was arrested by Italian police. Milan Palkovic, the Czech priest, was carrying the weapons in a bag and justified to the police that he was carrying someone else's bag and that the weapons were for his personal defence.
