How much does Donald Trump earn? “He's not the highest paid head of state”
This Monday, January 20, Donald Trump was officially inaugurated President of the United States. The question is, during his second term, how much will he earn?
More than double that of French head of state Emmanuel Macron. Even though Trump is already rich, his wallet will grow by $1.6 million gross over the next four years. The salary of the President of the United States has been voted by Congress: since 2001, it has been set as $400,000 gross per year.
The White House occupant will also receive a $100,000 travel allowance, a $19,000 entertainment budget and a $50,000 tax-free personal allowance. These expenses must be exclusively linked to the performance of his official duties, as 20 Minutes points out.
Although Donald Trump is the head of the world's most powerful country, he's not the highest-paid head of state. Indeed, while he's well ahead of Emmanuel Macron, whose monthly salary is 16,039.71 euros gross, or almost 192,400 euros a year, the President of the United States finds himself behind the President of the Swiss Confederation, who receives 543,000 dollars a year, and the German Chancellor with his 593,000 dollars a year. And, the medal goes to the current head of the Republic of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, who earns over $1,600,000 a year.
