Baby dies in storm: branch fell onto pram
A two-month-old baby died in the Brussels borough of Uccle on Tuesday during the brief but powerful storm that swept across Belgium.
The mother was walking in Wolvendaal Park with her baby in the pram at around 4pm when the storm erupted. A branch broke off and fell on the baby. The baby was still transferred to St Elizabeth Hospital but died of his injuries.
The park in question had been closed from 5pm due to the announced storm, but the storm passed earlier than planned in Brussels.
Police and the public prosecutor's office have opened an investigation, but it is clearly a tragic accident.
