Little lie derails when boss turns out to also be on flight to Bali
You could call it a white lie, but perhaps one that leads to dismissal!
Indonesian Grace works as a freelancer in Europe and lied to her manager that she had an urgent hospital appointment and would be taking a day of sick leave. The 23-year-old woman is originally from Indonesia and was eager to fly back to Bali for vacation. And so to get around Friday's workday, she told her boss that she needed to see a doctor.
Guess who was on that same flight to Bali? Her boss! "So this is the hospital?", her manager sounded dryly when he saw her standing in the airport.
The manager also often goes on vacation to Bali and happened to leave that day for a stay on the Indonesian island. Fortunately, he quickly forgave his young employee.
"I was in shock at first," Grace tells Newsweek. "But eventually we were both able to laugh about it." They got talking on the way to the plane, and during the flight her manager also posted a picture of her on the plane.
