"Ukraine already controls 74 settlements on Russian territory"
Ukraine is adopting a new strategy: hit Russia on its own territory.
Meanwhile, according to Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky, Ukraine has already captured 74 settlements on Russian territory in the Kursk region. Ukraine's attack on Russian territory in the Kursk border region began on 6 August.
'Safety of civilians is key'
"Checks and stabilisation measures" are being taken in Ukrainian-controlled areas. The Ukrainian president stressed that the safety of civilians is paramount and that Kiev does not want to damage infrastructure.
Russian soldiers captured
The president also says the advance of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region continues. An increasing number of Russian soldiers are also being captured, possibly to be used as a negotiating tool for future exchanges with Russia.
