Russians collect solid uppercut: historic first
On Aug. 6, Ukrainian troops may have accomplished an unprecedented feat by hitting an enemy helicopter using an FPV (First Person View) drone.
Activist and volunteer Serhiy Sternenko reported the news, which was confirmed by a source from the SBU, the Sloujba Bezpeky Ukrayiny (Ukrainian Security Service). According to this source, this event is "a first in the history of warfare," "a unique attack on an enemy target." He added that "the SBU once again demonstrated a high level of professionalism, a creative approach and innovation in the solutions used to destroy the enemy. We still have many unexpected surprises in store for the Russians".
A former adviser to Ukraine's Interior Ministry, Anton Gerashchenko, widely shared the video on X (formerly Twitter). The video shows an SBU drone hitting the rear propeller of the Russian aircraft as it flies over the Kursk region.
The targeted helicopter? A Mi-28. A Russian fighter designed by Mil. It is primarily intended to serve as an antitank role, notes L'Indépendant.
