Remco Evenepoel was involved in an accident while training on a Belgian road. He was taken to hospital.

According to his father, contacted by Sporza, it was the opening of a Bpost car door right in front of him that caused the fall of the Belgian cycling champion who was conscious when he was taken away by ambulance.

The world champion was training alone in Oettingen in the municipality of Gooik located in the Flemish Brabant. He hit the car door before hitting the ground violently. According to initial information, he was injured on the arm and shoulder.

Evenepoel's season was due to start in February. The next few hours will be crucial to know the severity of his injuries and whether they call into question his winter preparation and his 2025 calendar.
