Whale in the Seine River: rescue in preparationWhale in the Seine River: rescue in the pipeline
The humpback whale that ventured into the Seine River will be guided to be saved. This friday, teams are being set up near Rouen in order to help it find the estuary and then the open sea.
The NGO Sea Shepherd France has been on its way to Rouen since Thursday, October 17, 2024 to save the humpback whale that ventured into the Seine River. Their boat will first try to locate it. Then, the boat will position itself in such a way as to prevent the whale from going too far upstream. Then, the operation will consist of guiding the animal towards the estuary and, finally, the open sea. Several experts are considering, with the support of the authorities, what the best solution for guiding and accompanying the whale is. The objective is of course to make the marine mammal understand the path to follow, while ensuring its protection.
