Underage offender rapes roller skating woman (27) in public place
A 27-year-old woman was the victim of a brutal attack and violent rape last Thursday in Herentals, Belgium. The perpetrator could be traced and appears to be a young man only 17 years old.
The rape took place in the bushes along the Herentals-Bocholt canal, just next to a popular walking and cycling path along the water.
A passer-by heard noises on the verge and went to have a look, there he found the young perpetrator on the 27-year-old victim. The teenager set off running and the victim was left in shock and heavily bloodied. She was roller skating when the 17-year-old offender attacked her. The witness immediately notified the emergency services.
The young man N. turned out to live in a social area close to where he assaulted the woman. He is a 17-year-old boy of Nigerian origin who, according to his mother, suffers from a drinking problem. Two years ago, the boy also knocked down two women in his street and for this he is still being followed by the juvenile court.
The young man has been detained in the Everberg closed institution. The offender will appear before the juvenile court on August 30. He already turns 18 next month, making it possible that he will be tried as an adult for his heinous acts.
