Man loses 100 loved ones in landslides
A man from Kerala, India, has lost nearly 100 loved ones in deadly landslides caused by torrential rains, according to The Standard. These landslides have already claimed the lives of at least 166 people. Rescue workers are still searching for missing persons.
Shajahan Kuttiyath, an expat from Kerala living in the UAE, reported that more than 90 of his extended family members have died and many friends are missing.
Tuesday's landslides destroyed tea plantations and villages. The disaster is the worst in Kerala since the 2018 floods. Rescue operations are still ongoing, with 77 bodies recovered so far, but many people remain missing.
