Baldness common in men: finally an effective treatment
According to a 2015 study by Ifop (French Institute of Public Opinion), 13% of French people, 8.5 million in total, are affected by baldness.
Dr. Koutsomanis, a plastic and cosmetic surgeon, explains that baldness is “hair loss due to the toxicity of certain testosterone waste products in the hair follicle”. These waste products weaken the follicle and cause premature aging of the hair, which falls out and no longer grows back. Baldness mainly affects men (although women are also affected).
If you suffer from baldness and are wondering how to avoid this complex hair loss (not for everyone), here is what Dr. Koutsomanis recommends: do prevention, as much as possible. “As soon as there are the first signs of hair loss, it's necessary to prevent a more general hair loss. Some treatments have already proven to be effective. There are drug treatments, but not only.” Indeed, another very popular solution at the moment has already proven its effectiveness: mesotherapy. This is a "fertilizer that is injected into the scalp and that will be in direct contact with the hair follicles," explains Dr. Koutsomanis. This treatment provides all the hydration that the hair needs to grow.
According to the cosmetic surgeon, two to three sessions per year would be necessary to guarantee sustainable and healthy hair growth. In cases of total baldness, only a hair transplant will be truly effective.
