Here's how to avoid a dirty tragedy in your microwave oven
Have you ever heard those little “explosions” in your microwave when heating up a bowl of soup or some sauce? Very annoying, because your microwave soon gets covered in splashes.
When heating thick sauces (e.g. tomato sauce) or soups, steam and heat may not be able to escape. This causes those little explosions.
So how can you prevent this from happening?
Place a resistant bell jar over your bowl of soup or sauce. On a rectangular jar, you can place a plate that you turn a quarter. That way some air can still get in. On a square container, turn the lid an eighth.
