Beyoncé on the catwalk: fashion chases the stars

For decades, the major fashion houses and their designers have been making eyes at the 7th art and especially at the most emblematic actresses of the moment. Looking back, the close relationship between the French couturier Hubert de Givenchy and the British star (although born in Brussels) Audrey Hepburn was a turning point. In "Breakfast at Tiffany's", directed by Blake Edwards in 1961, the famous and yet simple little black dress she wears on 5th Avenue in New York has become an icon in itself.  Their platonic screen idyll had other significant episodes, notably for "Funny Face" (1957) and "Charade" (1963). The actress said of him: "Hubert goes far beyond the role of couturier. In my eyes, he is a creator of personality." In those days, people took the time to build long-term relationships, whereas today, it is most often a promotional exchange.

Last November in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Celine Dion received a whopping $5 million to sing two of her ditties at the end of a couture show by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, presented as the most expensive show ever. Jennifer Lopez, Camilla Cabello and Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram also lit up the event with their presence. It is very likely that they did not come to simply receive a bottle of the aptly named "Le Parfum", Elie Saab's most popular fragrance that can be found for around 50 dollars, euros or pounds if you look carefully.

Beyoncé at the Grammies 2025

But let's get back to the 2025 Grammy Awards ceremony which, despite the devastating fires that ravaged the region, unveiled its list of winners yesterday at the Crypto Arena (sic!) in Los Angeles. Rather than go into the details of the awards, just remember that Kendrick Lamar and Beyoncé won the most coveted trophies for the best record and recording of 2024. Taylor Swift, Charli xcx and Sabrina Carpenter did not leave empty-handed either.

Like a première of a Hollywood blockbuster or the Cannes Film Festival, the red carpet at the Grammy Awards has also become the hunting ground for the big names in luxury. For example, Jean-Paul Gaultier lent a dress inspired by Degas to Chappell Roan ("best new artist"). Olivia Rodrigo had chosen Versace as she often does. Taylor Swift, who left empty-handed, also called on Donatella Versace, preferring red to black. However, we pay tribute to Beyoncé, the undisputed queen of the evening.

Now also a country music star (in her own way of course) with the album "Cowboy Carter", the diva left no one indifferent in a custom-made Schiaparelli haute couture dress, designed by Daniel Roseberry. A halter top embroidered with an ecru and gold paisley bandana pattern, adorned with an openwork drop topped with a pearl on the front as well as matching long gloves. Enough to impress the gallery!

And as usual for this kind of ceremony, no one was particularly interested in the wardrobe - sometimes eccentric - of the male artists...
