Made in USA boycott launched in Canada

Since the introduction of taxes by Donald Trump, Canadians have been rebelling. A movement on social media networks and in stores is encouraging people to choose Canadian products to boycott those from the USA.

Donald Trump's aggressive 25% tax on products from Canada is not sitting well with Canada's northern neighbor. In addition to the American national anthem being whistled and booed during NBA and NHL events with Canadian teams, a citizens' movement is seeking to avoid American products. As a result, since February 2, online tutorials and tipshares, often on TikTok, have been telling Canadian consumers how to recognize the labels of domestic products on the shelves. Some give examples of substitute products, such as ketchup.

Not always possible

In response to Trump, Canada will also be imposing taxes on products imported from the USA. The boycott of “made in USA” products is not only a political act of citizenship. It's also quite simply an economic one, to reduce the costs on the supermarket till. It's a move encouraged by Justin Trudeau, Canada's Prime Minister. However, some US products have no Canadian substitute, much to the dismay of some consumers. One mother, for example, was worried that she couldn't find any infant milk “made in Canada”.
