Danger: 30 nuclear bombs threaten the world
In recent hours, the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry has announced that an asteroid the size of the Eiffel Tower will pass very close to Earth. This is particularly alarming news.
When talking about distances in space, the data should be put in context. This asteroid, the size of the Eiffel Tower, is expected to approach our planet in 2029.
According to calculations by Russian scientists, the object will pass 39,000 kilometres from Earth. This distance may seem exaggerated, but the moon orbits the Earth at more than 350,000 kilometres. Another interesting fact is that the asteroid is said to have the power of 30 nuclear bombs.
A more than enlightening detail is that the name chosen for this asteroid is Apophis, which comes from the Egyptian word Apep, meaning the personification of chaos.
