Sensitive skin? Do not use these products
Winter is slowly approaching and you're already dreading the influence of the cold on your naturally sensitive skin? To avoid making the situation worse and to preserve your skin's tolerance threshold, a minimalist skincare routine is highly recommended. At the same time, this product (which is nevertheless flooding TikTok #beauty2024) should be banned urgently!
Irritations, redness, inflammation, dryness..., sensitive skin knows. These are unpleasant effects that can occur frequently or occasionally at specific times of the year (winter, summer, menstruation, stress peaks, etc.). While it's been proven that certain factors such as the sun, pollution, but also tobacco, fatigue, emotions and hormonal variations, contribute to lowering the skin's tolerance threshold, the same goes for certain daily skincare habits which, if poorly dosed and inadequate, can trigger or even aggravate skin sensitivity.
So, absolutely avoid: mechanical exfoliation, using microbeads, and chemical exfoliation, using fruit acids (AHA and BHA). Any exfoliating product that weakens the skin's defenses and attacks the skin's stratum corneum. Anything that contains irritating active ingredients, including perfume and essential oils, and anything that is likely to refine the skin's texture should be thrown in the trash. Sensitive people should refrain from using any of these.
Today, trends call for layering. Masks, cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, foundations, etc., all for an aesthetic and incredibly Instagrammable effect. However, the more molecules applied to the skin are varied, the greater the risk of intolerance. A word of advice: listen to your skin, the best is often the enemy of good.
