Dark days: how to beat loneliness
Know and accept that you're not alone with your loneliness! Loneliness is one of the greatest threats to our society and if you don't do anything about it, it can become dangerous. It's also possible that you experience physical and mental adverse effects from it.
The following tips will help you make social isolation (and loneliness) bearable:
- Maintain your relationships
- Cherish the relationships you have had up until now. Keep chatting with your neighbors, call that family member (friend, former schoolmate, etc.) at regular intervals. Use social media to reconnect with people you lost sight of for a while.
You are not alone with your loneliness
It's a normal emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their own life and you can overcome it!
- Recognize and acknowledge that you feel lonely
- Loneliness is palpable; you don't sleep as well, your blood pressure and cholesterol increase ... In short: loneliness can affect your mental health and undermine your immune system.
