Volodymyr Zelenskyy says 200,000 troops needed to maintain peace in Ukraine: ‘It’s a minimum, otherwise, it’s nothing’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that at least "200,000 allied troops" would be necessary to enforce a peace agreement in Ukraine. He urged European nations to act independently without waiting for decisions from Donald Trump.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Volodymr Zelenskyy called on European leaders to take decisive action.

"Europe must establish itself as a strong, global player, as an indispensable player," the Ukrainian president declared.

He continued: "Let’s not forget there is no ocean separating European countries from Russia. European leaders should remember these battles involving North Korean soldiers are now happening in places geographically closer to Davos than Pyongyang."

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that a peace deal with Russia could be achieved, but it would require significant troop commitments.

"From all the Europeans? 200,000—it’s a minimum. It’s a minimum, otherwise, it’s nothing," he told a panel during an interview.
