"Ukraine will never give up its territory, ever".
Ukrainian President Volodymir Zelensky believes that the issue of his country's territorial integrity does not have to be resolved "solely by force of arms".
"It is also possible to find solutions diplomatically, if Russia so wishes", said the Ukrainian president.
In an interview published by four French media outlets, Libération, Le Monde, L'Équipe and the AFP news agency, he stressed that Ukraine will never cede its territories, nor does his government have the power to do so, as this is contrary to the Constitution.
"For this to happen, the Ukrainian people must want it. Moreover, ceding land would be a victory for Vladimir Putin", he added, noting that the Russian president could strike again in the future even if the conflict is frozen.
Despite this, Mr. Zelensky pleaded, as he has done recently, for a more diplomatic approach and wished for "Russian representatives to be present" at the second peace summit to be held in November.
