Trump congratulates Putin
The former US president has congratulated Russian President Vladimir Putin on his "good deal" over the prisoner swap a few days ago. For the US, the swap is less good, Trump believes.
"We may have our people back, but what terrible, terrible deals we made," Trump said.
In the prisoner swap, journalist Evan Gershkovich and 15 other prisoners were exchanged for eight Russians and their children, including an FSB officer who had received a life sentence in Germany for murder.
In recent months, Trump had stated several times that he and he alone would get Gershkovich released if he won the US presidential election in November. He declared that Putin would do that for him, "for no one else".
