Terrorists wanted to blow themselves up at Taylor Swift concert
Austrian police have probably prevented a bloodbath: terrorists had concrete plans to carry out an attack at Taylor Swift's concerts in Vienna.
Taylor Swift had planned three concerts in the Austrian capital, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, but they were cancelled. The reason: the arrest of three young suspects aged 19, 17 and 15 who allegedly planned to carry out an attack at those concerts.
According to Austrian media, the plans were already extremely concrete: the arrested 19-year-old Austrian with North Macedonian roots wanted to carry out a suicide attack around the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna where the concerts were taking place, using a homemade explosive device. In instant messages, he and his accomplices also talked about attacking with a car and with knives. Those messages were intercepted by US intelligence. They informed the Austrian intelligence services and Europol.
