"Russian officers trained to hit targets in Europe with nuclear missiles"
The 'Financial Times' has obtained a secret presentation in which Russian officers discuss plans for large-scale attacks in the early stages of a possible war against NATO countries.
This presentation, which predates the invasion of Ukraine, includes maps showing targets in France and a military shipyard in the UK.
Earlier, the newspaper reported that Moscow planned to deploy tactical nuclear weapons if it came to a conflict with a major world power. The new secret documents show that Russia is indeed prepared for confrontations with the West, deep into NATO territory across Western Europe.
The documents, shared with the 'Financial Times' by Western sources, were prepared between 2008 and 2014. They include a list of targets that can be hit with missiles capable of carrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.
For Russian officers, it may be a strategic advantage if nuclear weapons are deployed right at the start of a conflict.
