For Slovakia, “Ukraine is sabotaging European finances”
Slovakia reacts to Ukraine's decision to prevent the transit of Russian gas through its territory.
Slovak Prime Minister, Robert Fico Pro Putin, has described Ukraine's decision to prevent the transit of Russian natural gas through its territory as sabotage, a measure which came into force on January 1.
According to Mr. Fico, this is sabotage for public finances, which will no longer receive 500 million euros in gas transit fees from Slovakia.
According to Mr. Fico, “Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has begun to damage the public finances of Slovakia and the EU as a whole”.
In particular, he said that the European Union will spend an additional €60-70 billion as a result of the supply cutbacks, according to a study by Slovak gas company SPP.
