British 38-year-old dies after Russian attack
Ukraine's Supreme Council, Rada, has announced the discovery of the body of a Reuters employee who went missing after the missile attack on the Sapphire Hotel in Kramatorsk. He is a 38-year-old British citizen.
Ryan Evans, a 38-year-old British citizen, was killed in a Russian missile attack in Ukraine on Saturday. The Reuters security adviser was staying at the Sapphire International Hotel in Kramatorsk, eastern Ukraine. His body was found in the rubble of the destroyed hotel after a 19-hour search. The man was a former British Army soldier who now worked to protect journalists in war zones. Two journalists were also injured in the attack on the hotel: a Ukrainian and an American.
85 journalists killed
According to Ukrainian authorities, he is the "85th media worker whose life has been taken by the large-scale Russian aggression in Ukraine". Furthermore, "the Freedom of Expression Committee condemns this act of terrorism against journalists and expresses its sincere condolences to the family and colleagues of Ryan Evans".
