The 10K Valencia promises a new spectacle on Sunday

This Sunday, January 12, nearly 100 of the world's elite athletes will take the start of the fastest 10K in the world, in which they will try to break the European record for the distance.

The athletes of the '10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun' are already prepared to fly through the fastest circuit in the world in the distance. Everything indicates that this Sunday, January 12, the 10K Valencia will once again offer a great show in what will be its 17th largest edition with 15,000 popular runners registered.

The race, which holds the double world record (male and female), became in its last edition the fastest 10K ever held in history with data that corroborate it. The average of the 10 best times in men was 27:15, and in women 29:51, with a total average of 28:33 (data from Carlos Fernández Canet).

With these hard-to-beat figures, the 2025 race will feature a line-up of elite athletes of up to 25 different nationalities, who come to the first race of the year eager to beat their personal bests.

The Ethiopian athlete Foyten Tesfay, with a time of 29:54 and being the favorite to win this Sunday after running a few weeks ago the Valencia Marathon where she finished third (1:03:21), faces the first race of the year "with a lot of desire to try to go under 29 minutes, if the day comes".

Abbie Donnelly, the British athlete with a time of 31:42, arrives in Valencia with the goal of improving her personal best. "I know the course, I've heard a lot about it and I know it's very fast. I have options.

Ethiopia's Tadesse Worku, with a track mara of 26:46.80, is in very good shape and is looking forward to this 10K: "This Sunday I'm going to push hard and I'm going to try".

For his part, Olympic and world triathlon champion Alexander Yee, with a track record of 27:51.94, and with four Olympic and seven world medals, will run this Sunday his first track event since 2020. "I know this Valencia course is very fast, I know the course and I'm really looking forward to going out on Sunday."

Also present in the women's category was British athlete Jessica Warner with a time of 30:41, who said during the presentation that she had run the 10K Valencia last year and enjoyed it very much. "I really enjoyed the sensations and the city and I'm looking forward to running here again this Sunday".
