Murderer of Olympic marathon runner has died
Rebecca Cheptegei's ex-boyfriend has now succumbed to his own injuries. He was seriously injured when he doused the Olympic marathon runner with gasoline and set her on fire after an argument that got out of hand in Kenya.
He was taken to the hospital after the murder only to be arrested by police, but last night he still died in hospital. “Dickson Ndiema died due to the 30 percent burns he suffered when he set his ex on fire,” the hospital announcement reads.
The Ugandan marathon runner was attacked by her ex-partner and seriously injured. An argument got firmly out of hand and the partner doused Cheptegei with gasoline and then set her on fire. She was transferred to the hospital in critical condition. More than 75 percent of the Ugandan runner's body was burned. The runner lay in critical condition for days in a hospital in the Kenyan city of Eldoret. But last Thursday the sad news reached us that the Olympic marathon runner did not make it.
The horrific events took place in Trans Nzoian in Kenya, where the marathon runner was staying to train.
