Oh damn… the Earth is round after all!

Apparently, for some, seeing is believing. That's what happened to American flat-earther YouTuber Jeran Campanella. During an expedition to Antarctica, he realized he was wrong.

"We're sometimes wrong," is the moral of an online video by flat-earther Jeran Campanella, or rather the ex-flat-earther. The influencer had gone to Antarctica to prove that the Earth was flat. And he failed! He came back convinced that it was indeed round. A turnaround that we owe to the Sun. He didn't think it possible that the star could remain visible in the sky for 24 hours. However, in the southern summer, at the South Pole, that's what he observed. The sun cannot set because of the Earth's rotation axis.

The guys were right

The astronomical event presented him with a fait accompli: he was talking nonsense. With a flat Earth, no midnight Sun. Because if there is a Sun at midnight, the Earth is round. "Don't listen to my beliefs, it shouldn't matter to you. But you should at least be able to accept that the Sun does exactly what these guys said," the guys having been scientists for several centuries. He concluded by saying: "I really believed that there was no Sun 24 hours a day... Now I really believe that there is one."
