Greenlanders will end up annoying Trump

Donald Trump keeps coveting Greenland, claiming it's the will of the islanders. He has undoubtedly been misinformed and misguided, because Greenlanders don't think so.

Ignoring the declarations of Greenlandic and Danish authorities, President Trump persists in his desire to expand the territory of the United States by buying Greenland. One of his arguments for the purchase is that the people of Greenland want to become Americans. Clearly, its inhabitants want more autonomy from Denmark. But from there to the United States? A recent poll seems to put Donald Trump, once again, face to face with his contradictions (his lies?).

No!

Contrary to his thundering declarations, there's no clear majority willing to join the USA. Quite the contrary... According to an opinion poll, 85% of them say no to the idea of joining the USA. Only 6% are in favor, with the remainder still undecided. These results come from a poll carried out on the island by the Verian agency for the Danish newspaper Berlingske and the Greenlandic newspaper Sermitsia. Confirming the official line from Copenhagen and Nuuk: “Greenland is not for sale”.

Independence

Greenland's 57,000 inhabitants will be called to the polls on April 6 for local elections. The territory's sovereignty and independence are campaign themes. Trump's crude intrusion into the game has only fanned the flames of their need for autonomy. The poll shows that 45% of Greenlanders surveyed perceive Donald Trump as “a threat”. However, 43% see the White House's interest in their island as “an opportunity” to open the debate on sovereignty. Without, however, wanting to become Americans.
