Doctor suspended for life after masturbating during video call with patient
Disciplinary judges in the Netherlands have imposed a lifetime professional ban on a plastic surgeon for self-gratification in a video consultation with a patient.
A court had already sentenced the doctor earlier this year to 120 hours of community service, a five-month suspended prison sentence and compensation of 500 euros. And so now a lifetime professional ban is added to that. The Regional Disciplinary Tribunal for Health Care in Zwolle, the Netherlands, has now removed the doctor from the register in which all doctors must be listed. Without registration, he is not allowed to work in health care.
The facts occurred in May 2022. The doctor had then performed an eyelid correction on a patient and because her eyes were so swollen, she was worried and decided to ask the doctor for advice via video chat. But the doctor had something else in mind. He was lying on his bed in a hotel room and turned his phone toward his bare genitals. The patient immediately stopped the video chat. At the doctor's insistence, a second video chat followed, during which the man satisfied himself again. The woman recorded the footage as evidence.
