Coding genius: Seven-year-old boy offered top job
A young computer genius has been offered a job at a tech company.
Seven-year-old Sergey, who lives in Saint Petersburg, Russia, gained attention by sharing videos online where he has been demonstrating how to write lines of code since the age of five.
Thanks to his remarkable skills, the Russian company Pro32 extended a job offer to him. However, Sergey will have to wait until he is 14 years old, as required by local laws, to officially start working and earning a salary.
Igor Mandik, the CEO of the firm, told BBC World Service that he has already reached out to the young prodigy’s parents to find a way to collaborate with him until he turns 14.
"His father, Kirill, was surprised and said that [they were] really happy and looking forward [to when] Sergey would be able to join the company," he said.
Sergey shares his videos on YouTube and takes on coding challenges using Python and Unity.
His father, Kirill, told the British media that Sergey developed an interest in coding by watching his sister learn.
