Woman saves infant son but dies herself in bloody attack
Young mother Inbar Segev-Vigder (33) was killed in an attack in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv on Tuesday. While she was on her way home with her infant son and with their dog, two terrorists opened fire at the train station. The dog was also shot dead. Inbar caught a bullet that almost certainly would have killed her nine-month-old baby Ari.
A commando opened fire with automatic weapons at the train and streetcar station on Jerusalem Street. Seven people were killed, dozens more were wounded. The deceased included the young mother Inbar, who was carrying her baby in a baby carrier on her chest at the time of the firefight. Two witnesses told police they had taken a crying baby from under a woman's body and placed it in an ambulance. The 33-year-old mom could not be saved. According to witnesses, camera footage and based on the wounds on her body, the brave mom had sacrificed her own life to save Ari's life. For she had taken the bullet that would almost certainly have killed her infant son.
The armed branch of the extremist Palestinian organization Hamas, the Qassam Brigades, claimed the attack in Tel Aviv.
