Woman (21) auctions newborn baby on Facebook
US police have arrested a 21-year-old woman after she offered her newborn baby for sale on social media. She allowed interested couples to bid against each other.
The brand-new mother held the online auction from her hospital bed in Houston, in the U.S. state of Texas.
The drug-addicted woman offered her infant son for sale through the Facebook group 'Birth mothers looking for adoptive parent(s)'. She searched and found an interested couple, who eventually attended the birth. But authorities soon caught up with her. Court records show that the baby tested positive for drugs after birth. The court ruled that the infant son would be taken into the care of friends of hers for the time being.
