What's happening in Germany? Explosion sends shivers down police's spine
On Monday morning, shortly after 7am, the center of the German city of Cologne was rocked by an explosion.
The explosion is believed to have occurred in a nightclub in the Hohenzollernring district, between Rudolfplatz and Ehrenstrasse. Police were mobilized en masse and immediately cordoned off a large area around the establishment. In some photos, it's evident that parts of the building, including the ceiling and side walls, were destroyed.
The incident remains unclear. The police are urging the public to avoid the area. Surveillance footage shows a man leaving a bag at the entrance of the establishment before the explosion. It's not yet known whether the suspect may have had accomplices.
