New rules for those wanting to visit Spain
From Monday 2 December, new rules will apply to tourists wanting to go to Spain.
Spain wants to step up the fight against terrorism and organised crime and from 2 December, operators of hotels, campsites and car rental companies will be obliged to register detailed info about their customers.
For instance, tourists must now communicate their identity details, gender, home address, phone number, payment methods, nationality, e-mail address and the number of travellers, as stipulated by a Spanish law stipulates.
With the law, which has actually been in place since January 2023 but is only now coming into force after a period of adjustment, Spain aims to combat terrorism and organised crime.
The Spanish Federation of Hoteliers and Tourist Accommodation has reservations about the fines that hoteliers risk and the privacy of tourists and is therefore calling for a review of the law.
