Man buys 8 sports bags: suspicious police get it right

A twentysomething showed abnormal driving behavior Thursday in the direction of Mechelen-North, Belgium. He seemed very focused on his GPS and regularly made sudden and sharp driving movements. A patrol from the Rivierenland police zone soon caught sight of him and decided to follow him for a while.

The twentysomething then drove to a department store and promptly bought eight sports bags. That only made him even more suspicious to the police. He then continued his drive from Antwerp to Brussels. Once parked in Ixelles, another man walked up to the car, handed him another sports bag and left again.

When the suspect vehicle then had to stop at a red traffic light, that was the signal for police to intervene. The driver was checked and the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road. The sports bag turned out to contain several blocks of cocaine with a total weight of over 13 kilograms. The driver turned out to be a 25-year-old Albanian. He was arrested and handed over to the public prosecutor's office. The investigating judge arrested him and had him detained in prison.
