Nearly 30 documents containing testimonies from airline pilots have recently been published by the Brazilian National Archives. In them, the pilots explain having observed several strange phenomena in the skies of the south of the country, particularly over the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.

In April, one of the pilots claims to have seen a stationary UFO while preparing to land in Porto Alegre, reports Linfo.re. The object, according to his observations, varied in color, sometimes white, sometimes orange. Also according to the pilot, he saw it 4 times during the same week. In January, on the 21st at night, another aviator said he had seen 4 or 5 objects with flashing white lights. He emphasizes that these objects could not be satellites or spacecraft. In February 2023, a third pilot claimed to have seen a “ball” moving in the sky, at a speed of “ten times that of a commercial aircraft”. In 2014, more or less similar stories had already been reported, including that of a pilot who had to perform an “avoidance maneuver” while approaching a luminous UFO.

According to NASA, which takes this matter seriously, these phenomena are “events in the sky that cannot be scientifically identified as an aircraft or a known natural phenomenon”. And, according to astrophysicist David Spergel, some of these observations are perfectly explainable. They turn out to be, most of the time, drones, planes, balloons, meteorological phenomena… The fact remains that, in some cases, no logical explanation can be provided.
