Joe Biden suffering from Parkinson's or not?
As speculation mounts about President Biden's actual state of health and his ability to take on a second term in office, some reports suggest that the Democratic candidate is suffering from Parkinson's disease.
Is Joe Biden fit for a second term as American president? White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned earlier by the press about the US President's state of health following the publication of an article in the New York Times claiming that a Parkinson's specialist had visited the American leader eight times between the summer of 2023 and last spring.
The spokeswoman firmly denied that Joe Biden had Parkinson's disease and said that he was not taking any medication to combat the condition. However, Karine Jean-Pierre did not wish to specify why this doctor had visited the White House, hiding behind the word "confidentiality". "Has the President been treated for Parkinson's disease? No. Is the President being treated for Parkinson's disease? No. (...) Is he taking medication for Parkinson's? No." Duly noted.
But should we believe the official White House version? Repeated visits by Dr Kevin Cannard, a renowned neurologist, cast doubt on whether Biden's entourage could have organised a campaign to conceal his true state of health.
