Born on October 28: Eros Ramazzotti, the Latin lover
Born near Cinecittà, in the cinema district of Rome in 1963, Eros Ramazzotti quickly discovered a passion for music and song.
After being refused at the Conservatory, he had to wait until the early 80s to be spotted ata singing competition. Although he did not win first place (that was Zucchero!), he did get a contract with a record company.
A few years later, his duet with Renato Brioschihad was a huge success. "Una storia importante" sold 500,000 copies in France alone! The charm of the handsome Italian that sings about love appealed to people, and his second album "In Certi Momenti" did even better, selling more than three million copies worldwide. The albums followed one another, allowing him to sign a contract with BMG International in 1994.
He became the first Italian to perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and continued to charm his fans, especially with the album "Dove c'é musica" on which we find "Piu'Bella Cosa". The releases kep coming at the rate of one every two years, and the audience of the Latin lover was now international. His ninth album, "9", broke all records with the hit "Un'emozione per sempre", the story of a breakup when, in real life, the singer and his wife Michelle Hunziker were separating.
This big football fan (especially Juventus) also collaborated with many stars, such as Tina Turner, Cher or Anastacia with whom he sang "I Belong to You", a single that once again shot to the top of the European charts. Album releases and tours continued, each time with resounding success. Nothing seems to resist the now millionaire singer, who has a string of best-ofs, new releases and even an autobiography to celebrate his thirty-year career.
Today, as he celebrates his 61st birthday and more than 60 million albums sold, the father of three still promises us many romantic songs: "Love is an inexhaustible theme," he often confides.
