Painful turbulence: a passenger's leg ‘cut in two’.
During a flight from Bali to Auckland (New Zealand), a 47-year-old man was thrown into the air before breaking his leg.
Following severe turbulence, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner had to call in a medical team as soon as it arrived at Auckland International Airport. The reason? As he was leaving the toilet, a passenger was violently thrown through the ceiling and landed on his leg, which was ‘practically cut in two’, explained a friend of the man.
Niko, the passenger in question, received first aid from a doctor on board.
The poor man was planning to spend a month in New Zealand. His plans were disrupted by a sudden burst of turbulence. Air New Zealand said in a statement that the flight ‘encountered “sudden and severe turbulence”. No other people were injured.’
