Is China throwing lifeline to Audi Brussels?

It's official: the Audi plant in Brussels will not build a new model. This announcement has brought recovery at the plant to a halt and workers are refusing to return to work. The plant may well become Chinese.

The Audi Q8 e-tron has not been as successful as expected. The Brussels plant is now doomed. Especially since the manufacturer has not assigned a new model to it. This news has led to employees not going back to work on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. One option remains within the group: the production of spare parts. But there is another path that seems most likely: with the new customs duties on vehicles produced in China, the Brussels plant could attract a Chinese manufacturer. Especially since it has the right infrastructure for electric cars. However, the Brussels location is neither the most accessible nor the best located, despite a rail connection. In any case, several thousand employees fear for their future.
